Since living in Gloucestershire, Sam has has been creating content-managed e-commerce and brochure sites for individuals and small-medium businesses & organisations, some of which are featured below:
Woodruffs Organic Café
A Wordpress site for an organic café in Stroud High Street.
Brief:
- To create a site for a successful High Street café advertising the lesser-known aspects of their business, such as cookery lessons, their new outside catering service, art exhibitions and even job vacancies.
- To take photos of their food for use in the site and other advertising
- For the site to be easily updated by the client
Tiggy Lessner, Garden Designer
A Wordpress site for a garden designer based near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Brief:
- To create a brochure site for a client with good technical skills to update easily
- To teach the client (a designer with considerable Photoshop skills) how to create and optimise images for the web
- To work with the client to achieve search engine optimisation
Rachel Oldfield, Children’s Illustrator
An e-commerce website for a children’s illustrator, using Wordpress and the Paypal Shopping Cart. Initially selling canvas prints and posters, but with a view to expanding the product range in the future.
Brief:
- To create a logo and site design that was in keeping with Rachel’s illustrative style.
- For the site to scale from a limited product range to a more complex one
- To configure the Paypal Shopping Cart to receive transactions from worldwide customers
Dr. Mark Porter MBE
An online media resource using Wordpress for Dr. Mark Porter, a GP based in Gloucestershire who also hosts a medical programme for Radio 4 and writes a column for the Times and for Sainsburys Magazine. The interface design was created by Maybug Creative, while the Wordpress development was carried out by MrsThinkyThoughtHead.
Brief:
- To consult with Maybug Creative in developing a sitemap and interface design compatible with Wordpress functionality
- To develop the site in Wordpress according to the agreed design
- To provide a tutorial in the use of Wordpress
Red Kite
A Wordpress site for an environmental consultancy.
Brief:
- To develop an existing static site into one that is easily updated by the client
- To make the content more accessible, as previous site stats showed that much of the main content was not being read
- To create a design that incorporated the company’s new branding
Pan-Global Plants
(MYSQL & PHP scripting by Tom Buckley Houston)
A database-driven site for a rare plant nursery, incorporating plant directory and blogs, using the Movable-Type CMS.
Brief:
- To develop an existing site to be more usable/accessible, colourful and completely updatable by the client
- To develop the text-only plant database to include images
- To devise a system for the client to process thousands of images for upload to the database, including the creation of photoshop macros.
- To provide a mechanism for the client to publish a personal blog, a nursery blog and an expedition blog
Victoria Jinivizian, Painter
A semi-dynamic site for an artist, incorporating Michael J. I. Jackson’s Shadowbox online media viewer application.
Brief:
- To create a simple site to display paintings and drawings by an artist
- For the site to have a dynamic element in displaying the images
- To provide a way to contact the artist

A static ‘umbrella’ site for the non-profit organisation ‘Stroud Valley Festivals Ltd’.
Brief:
- To create a one-page site introducing the 4 festivals happening around Stroud in September 2009
Stroud Food Festival 2009
A Wordpress site detailing events at the Stroud Food Festival 2009.
Brief:
- To create a calendar-based site introducing the events and participants of Stroud Food Festival
- To come up with a design that’s in keeping with the printed festival programme and food festival logo
- To list the events chronologically as well as linking them by category
- To incorporate an ongoing ‘Food Stories’ section, and give prominence to the festival sponsors
Stroud Walking Festival 2009
A Wordpress site detailing the 39 walks during the Stroud Walking Festival 2009.
Brief:
- To create a calendar-based navigation system introducing the walks
- To come up with a design that’s in keeping with the printed festival programme and pre-existing walking festival logo
- To list the walks chronologically
- To give prominence to the festival sponsors
The Village Inn, Nailsworth
A Wordpress site for a local Pub.
Brief:
- To create a site advertising the events going on at the Pub
- To create a design that matches the Pub’s existing brand
- To provide copy and take photographs of the Pub and it’s events

A Wordpress CMS-driven site for a community-based art project in aid of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.
Brief:
- To create a site for someone with reasonable technical knowledge to update simply
- To create a logo and design from scratch
- To display good quality photographs of the project as it progresses
- To provide a flexible navigational system to cope with an experimental project as it develops
Feldenkrais For You
A Wordpress CMS-driven site for a Feldenkrais practitioner.
Brief:
- To create a site with a contemporary look and feel
- To advertise both regular classes and one-off workshop events easily and simply
- To be simple for the (non-technical) client to update
- To take photographs of a class for use on the site
- To create some simple animations which convey some of the movements involved in the method
Centered Yoga Studio
A brochure site for an Ayengar yoga studio, advertising class times and contact details.
Brief:
- Design and build a site with minimally changing content
- To convey the surrounding countryside within the design
- To take photographs of the studio, classes and teacher
- To incorporate the font already used in other printed literature from the studio
Cycletraining UK
(Interface design by Bettina Walter)
A semi-dynamic site using the movableType CMS, for a non-profit organisation in London which teaches people of all ages to ride their bikes safely in traffic.
Brief:
- To create a site advertising the services of the organisation
- To provide a ‘news’ section for non-technical staff to promote events and awareness
- To provide a secure area, where staff across London can log in and complete paperwork using an online form, which is sent straight to the database

A Wordpress CMS driven site for a herbal medicine practice, including both static and dynamic content.
Brief:
- To create a site for a technically-capable client to update regularly
- To tie the design in with previously existing printed literature
Revo Landscapes
A semi-dynamic brochure site for a Landscape specialist.
Brief:
- To create a design for the target market incorporating the existing brand logo and colouring
- To use exisiting photographs of previous work

A site advertising the services of a tour guides organisation in Gloucestershire.
Brief:
- Create a simple site to replace the pre-existing one-pager, with static content and a contact form.

Brief:
- A site promoting the band, gig dates and their music
- To provide a simple system for the (non-technical) band members to advertise gigs and write up news events

- To write up/edit background biogs of the band
- To provide a secure area for the provision of large printable promotional photographs and technical requirements for use by potential venues
